Creative Inspiration - the Story of Kathryn Rayward
23rd September 2010
Forum Cafe Bar
Start Time: 6:30pm
End Time: 8:30pm
This event is part of '@BLYorks'; a series of events dedicated to the Creative, Digital and New Media Industry, designed to support and inspire businesses from this sector in the region.
One of the UK’s hottest interior designers, Kathryn Rayward came to television whilst running a thriving interior design business in Cheltenham, Gloucester. With offices in Brighton and the South of France, her company continues to grow commissioned by both private domestic residences and the corporate world.
Kathryn studied Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University and after securing a BA Hons she began a successful career designing and painting lavish theatre sets. Her work included back drops for the Royal Swedish Ballet and Disney’s West End hit Beauty and the Beast.
Kathryn's television career kicked off with "Grand Designs Indoors" on Channel 4, which centred around Kathryn and her husband, renovating their medieval home over a nine month period. From there Kathryn was headhunted by a BBC producer who hand picked her to appear as a regular on the popular BBC One daytime makeover show “Real Rooms”, as well as the BBC one morning series “House Call” where she performed daily live makeovers.
Kathryn's inspirational story will cover her career in the CDI sector, starting with what inspired her to enter the Creative Industry and become an interior designer, right through to building up her own businesses and how she became a regular presenter on TV.
